Does Disney have an impact in music today?!

Published by fsolanosmg at 2:27 am under Uncategorized Edit This

So the other day I was thinking about how much music has changed. I may only be 22 years old, but if I remember correctly, a few years ago, around 2000 or so, pop music was huge. We had all these young talents making it big in the music charts, while establishing themselves as a force to be reckon with. If I remember correctly, back in the day you had Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, *Nsync and others leading the way in music. Each time one would turn on the radio, every hour one will hear at least one song from these artists. One thing a good majority of these stars had in common is that they come from a Disney background.

As many know, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and a few members of *Nsync first had their start on the Mickey Mouse Club. One can argue that Disney helped groomed these future sex symbols into the stars they are now. In saying that, one can argue if Disney is leaving a lasting, and might I say, a worthy impact in music?

Britney Spears is someone who back in the day was one of the best performers around. Whose musical talent can often be questioned. So if one looks back in history, can one say Britney Spears is leaving an impact in music due to her her “talent” or her out of this world behaviour?!

Christina Aguilera can arguably be one of the selective few who has lasting power. A multiple Grammy winner in her own right, she has been considered as one of the best vocalists of our present time. A decade ago one can argue it was Mariah Carey. Is it safe to say that Christina is the Mariah Carey of our time? Not to sound shallow, but once Christina’s beauty fades, she will still be able to rely on her voice to belt out those hits. So in my opinion, this ex-Disney star is leaving a worthy impact in music history.

Justin Timberlake has been hailed as maybe being the next Michael Jackson, though I do feel that is a bit of a stretch. As a personal opinion, Timberlake has already established himself as musical artist, though he will never leave a lasting impact, nor have a career as highly publicized and successful as the King of Pop.

Looking at the present stars of today, who have somewhat of a musical career, you have Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, and now Miley Cyrus are creating tons of buzz in the music industry. Miley Cyrus has been the talk of the year by making it somewhat of an impossible mission to get tickets for her concert. I ask if it is because she of musical talent at 15, or is it because Disney has done such a good job in grooming this young girl as the next big thing? Well a few years from now one will be able to see what these current young stars will do to leave their impact in music history!

    miley cyrus is simply charming.
she’s very charismastic, knows what she wants,
and has a rich family that can support her.

not, of course, that she needs it.
the young pop star is earning her own keep.

maybe it IS the hannah montana night gowns
    that Disney sells so well…

but you have to give it to her.
    she seems very mature
and admittedly has a very wide vocal range
(as well as pass-able acting talent)
    FOR HER AGE.

take her for what she is.
